Universities in Tierra del Fuego expand research and housing

The Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) and the Universidad Nacional de Tierra del Fuego (UNTDF) have signed a framework agreement to strengthen scientific research and academic training in Tierra del Fuego. The partnership focuses on sharing laboratories, technology, and human resources between the institutions to support regional production and environmental projects. A primary initial objective is the enhancement of the UNTDF Agroecology degree through the use of UTN's specialized technological facilities.

Simultaneously, the UNTDF has commenced construction of a new university residence at the Libertador General José de San Martín Campus in Ushuaia. Funded entirely by the institution with a budget of approximately 933.8 million pesos, the 430-square-meter facility is expected to be completed within 270 days. The project aims to provide secure, energy-efficient housing for students, replacing the current rented accommodation used by those traveling from Río Grande and Tolhuin.
