Universities in Uruguay and Mexico celebrate institutional anniversaries

Two universities in Uruguay and Mexico recently marked significant institutional milestones.

In Fray Bentos, Uruguay, the Universidad Tecnológica (UTEC) celebrated 10 years of presence in the city, commemorating the start of activities for the Instituto Tecnológico Regional (ITR) Suroeste. The event included UTEC counselors and Alejandro Sánchez, Secretary of the Presidency, who highlighted the role of former President José Mujica in establishing the project. Senator Lucía Topolansky also attended to recognize the expansion of tertiary education opportunities in the country's interior.

In Tijuana, Mexico, the Universidad Tecnológica de Tijuana (UTT) celebrated its 28th anniversary. The ceremony, led by Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, honored staff for long-term service and highlighted institutional growth. Rector Salvador Morales Riubí noted that the university's enrollment is set to reach 6,400 students by September, with its educational offerings expanding from 34 to 45 programs over the last four years.
