Universities in Venezuela and Peru announce new academic and infrastructure developments

In Venezuela, universities have integrated seismic-resistant engineering into their curricula. Francisco Garcés, president of the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Infrastructure Habitability, stated that this initiative encourages students and faculty to conduct field studies on buildings in areas such as Caracas and La Guaira to optimize professional practice and improve engineering quality.

In Peru, the Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) has launched construction projects at the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM). These projects, part of commitments related to the Line 2 Metro execution, include a new university residence capable of housing 745 students and a multipurpose building featuring specialized laboratories. The residence will also include a nursery, dining hall, and common areas, while the multipurpose building will provide administrative spaces and meeting rooms.
