Universities in Zadar and Zenica announce new academic terms

The University of Zadar is continuing its initiative to offer open courses to the general public for the 2026/2027 winter semester. Aimed particularly at older adults as part of lifelong learning, these courses cover subjects such as archaeology, ecology, economics, and history. Participants do not gain formal student status but receive certificates upon successful completion. The cost is 100 euros, with a reduced rate of 26.55 euros for retirees.

In Zenica, the University of Zenica has commenced the 2026/2027 academic year with a freshman orientation. Rector Jusuf Duraković reported that 695 new first-cycle students have enrolled, marking a slight increase from the previous year. While enrollment in second and third cycles has also seen minor growth, the university noted that the new “Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies” program did not meet its initial enrollment targets. Additionally, capacity limits at the Medical Faculty remain a factor due to space constraints and the lack of a university hospital in Zenica.
