Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf ranks among world's best nephrology hospitals

The Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) has achieved a high ranking in the ‘World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027’ by Newsweek and Statista. In the field of nephrology, the UKE ranked 40th globally and second within Germany, trailing only the Berlin Charité, which leads the global ranking for this specialty.

Germany saw significant representation in the nephrology category, with the clinics in Berlin, Hamburg, and Heidelberg all placing within the global top 50. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nephrologie described the result as a ‘great signal for German nephrology.’

In conjunction with its medical achievements, the UKE is advancing its physical infrastructure through the construction of a new university heart center in Hamburg-Eppendorf. The project, scheduled for completion in 2026, includes 15 stations, 379 beds, 9 operating rooms, and specialized laboratories for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology.
