University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska hosts Serbian health delegation
A delegation from Serbia, including State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Health Nemanja Zečević and the Director of the Institute of Oncology and Radiology Milan Žegarac, visited the University Clinical Center (UKC) of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.
The visit included inspections of the nuclear medicine and thyroid disease department, the radiotherapy center, clinical radiology, and a new facility for oncology, hematology, and palliative care. Officials noted that the UKC provides a closed cycle of treatment for oncology patients, covering clinics for oncology, radiology, and nuclear medicine.
Republika Srpska Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić announced that an additional 15 million KM has been allocated from the budget to the Health Insurance Fund of Republika Srpska for an oncology drug program, with plans to expand indications for certain medications. He also highlighted the establishment of a Center for Rare Diseases within the UKC, focusing on pediatric care and early detection. Both Serbian and local officials emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and increased focus on disease prevention.
