University Clinical Center of Serbia opens first multiple sclerosis center

The University Clinical Center of Serbia has opened the first center in Serbia and the surrounding region dedicated to multiple sclerosis and related diseases. Located in a new section of the Belgrade facility, the approximately 200-square-meter center provides a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

In addition to neurologists, the center offers access to specialists including physiotherapists, psychologists, urologists, endocrinologists, gynecologists, and ophthalmologists. The facility also includes a specialized counseling service to assist patients with pregnancy planning, emphasizing that women with the condition can and should have the opportunity to become mothers.

Deputy Health Minister Nebojša Tasić and Director Jelena Drulović inspected the facility, noting that it provides world-class standards of care. Approximately 10,000 people in Serbia live with this chronic progressive disease, with about 70 percent currently receiving active treatment.
