University for Foreigners of Siena professors appeal to TAR
Eight professors at the University for Foreigners of Siena (Unistrasi) have filed an appeal with the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) to contest disciplinary actions taken by Rector Tomaso Montanari. The dispute centers on an online degree program in “Language, Literature, and Italian Arts in an International Perspective” (CdS L10).
The professors deny allegations of misconduct regarding their teaching methods, specifically concerning the reuse of video recordings. They argue that such materials function like textbooks and that no national or university regulations mandate the annual re-recording of lectures. They further stated that students have consistently provided positive feedback through satisfaction surveys.
Additionally, the faculty members addressed reports regarding the Court of Auditors (Corte dei Conti). They clarified that they have received no communication or requests for restitution from the Court, disputing claims that the institution had ruled against them regarding improper compensation.
