University Hospital Martin enhances critical care transport

University Hospital Martin has demonstrated its specialized capabilities for transporting critically ill and extremely premature newborns. These high-risk patients require continuous monitoring of vital functions and life support during transit, which is managed by a dedicated pediatric team consisting of 11 doctors and 11 nurses.

The hospital utilizes a mobile intensive care unit to safely transport children within the Žilina Self-Governing Region to specialized facilities, such as cardiac, burn, or oncology centers. Additionally, the hospital has expanded its transport services to include critically ill adults, specifically those requiring VA-ECMO mechanical circulatory support, in cooperation with the Košice Emergency Service.
