University Hospital of Verona performs kidney transplant for cystic fibrosis patient
Iris, a 23-year-old woman living in Italy, has received a kidney transplant from her mother, Lidia. The procedure took place at the University Hospital of Verona, which has recorded 100 kidney transplants since the start of the year.
Iris was born in Romania and diagnosed with cystic fibrosis shortly after birth. Her family, including her sister Nicole Stan, moved from Romania to Italy after realizing that the medical treatments available in their home country were insufficient to sustain her health. The family has lived in the Vicenza province for over 15 years while Iris continues her medical care in Verona.
