University Hospital Ostrava launches robotic eye screening
The University Hospital Ostrava, in collaboration with the RBP health insurance company, has launched the first robotic eye screening service in the Czech Republic. Utilizing the MIKAJAKI EyeLib™ system, the technology combines sensors, robotics, and artificial intelligence to perform comprehensive examinations.
The procedure is painless, non-contact, and takes approximately ten minutes. It measures over one hundred key ocular parameters, including refractive errors, corneal curvature, intraocular pressure, and detailed images of the retina and optic nerve. Unlike traditional methods, this system does not require eye drops to dilate the pupils.
While the AI processes data into detailed reports, an ophthalmologist evaluates the results to recommend further care if necessary. The project, known as OKO 213, aims to increase the availability of preventive care, reduce waiting times, and assist in the early detection of eye diseases without replacing the expertise of medical professionals.
