University Hospital Zenica unveils 800 million KM expansion plan

The University Hospital Zenica has presented a conceptual design for a new hospital complex, a major healthcare project in Bosnia and Herzegovina estimated to cost approximately 800 million KM. The planned facility will cover a gross construction area of 133,003 square meters and include 1,017 hospital beds, modern clinics, an urgent care center, and advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities.

To facilitate the project, the Zenica-Doboj Canton government has agreed to pay the City of Zenica 16 million KM in four installments for land rights, with the first 4 million KM already secured through a budget rebalance. An initial investment cycle of approximately 40 million KM is already underway for components of the complex, including a new oncology building and a heating plant.

In a separate development, the Zenica-Doboj Canton Ministry of Health has allocated 60,800 KM to 13 local health associations. These funds, drawn from the 2026 budget, are intended to support health promotion, disease prevention awareness, psychosocial support for patients and families, and the procurement of necessary supplements and aids.
