University leadership elections proceed in Colombia and Mexico
Academic institutions in Colombia and Mexico are undergoing leadership selection processes. At the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas in Colombia, forums have commenced for the election of deans across four faculties: Arts - ASAB, Sciences and Education, Environment and Natural Resources, and Health Sciences. These forums allow students, professors, and alumni to engage directly with candidates, including Anyela Mancilla Lucumí, Ana Lucía Casallas Murillo, Néstor Gustavo Agudelo Gómez, and William Manuel Vega Vargas. Electronic voting is scheduled for October 29.
In Mexico, the Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro (UAAAN) is proceeding with its rectorate renewal despite student protests. The University Council met on October 15 to address concerns regarding the selection of the three-person candidate shortlist. While students expressed dissatisfaction with the methodology used to select candidates, Rector Alberto Flores Olivas stated that the council voted 18 to 17 to proceed with the current shortlist. The election process continues according to the established calendar.
