University Medical Center Freiburg joins MEDI:CUS healthcare initiative

The University Medical Center Freiburg has become a founding member of MEDI:CUS e. V., a new association aimed at advancing the digitalization of the healthcare system in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

The initiative, launched by the state of Baden-Württemberg alongside various clinics and universities, seeks to establish a secure, multicloud-based, and data-compliant digital infrastructure. This platform is designed for hospitals, research institutions, and other healthcare actors, utilizing a modern stack architecture to improve interoperability and scalability.

Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz, Chief Medical Director of the University Medical Center Freiburg, serves as the chairman of the board for MEDI:CUS, while Dr. Michael Kraus, the center's Chief Information Officer, is a member of the association's presidium. The goal of the project is to reduce non-medical administrative burdens through standardized processes and digital solutions, allowing clinical staff to focus more on patient care.
