University of Abuja Refutes Minister of Education Influence Claim
The University of Abuja issued a statement denying allegations that the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, intervened in the appointment of a senior management staff member. The statement, signed by Acting Director of Information and University Relations Dr. Habib Yakoob, described the claims as false, misleading and without factual basis. It emphasized that the university is an autonomous institution that follows its statutory laws and established recruitment procedures for all managerial positions. The university urged the public to disregard the spurious allegations and reiterated its commitment to its mandate while acknowledging the minister’s contributions to Nigeria’s higher‑education sector.
No evidence of external interference was presented, and the university reaffirmed that all appointments are made strictly in accordance with approved guidelines and due process.
