University of Almería summer courses showcase agriculture innovation and women writers

The University of Almería concluded its XXVII summer courses with events in Dalías and Cuevas del Almanzora. In Dalías, the program highlighted modern and traditional agricultural practices, emphasizing the integration of artificial intelligence and protected greenhouse farming. Engineer Antonio Salvador Matarín presented research on controlled vegetable production and stressed that protected agriculture remains the economic engine for the province.

In Cuevas del Almanzora, the focus shifted to cultural studies, where Remedios Sánchez examined the historical invisibility of women writers from the Spanish Civil‑War era. Sánchez pointed out that female authors appear in only 11‑14% of textbooks and anthologies, using examples such as Ángela Figuera Aymerich, Gloria Fuertes, Paca Aguirre and Mariluz Escribano to illustrate persistent gender bias.
