University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences awarded $5 million for rural health
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has been awarded over $5 million through the Arkansas Rural Health Transformation Program. The funding, distributed under the HEART and RISE ARKANSAS initiatives, will support six specific programs aimed at improving healthcare access and quality in rural areas.
The funded initiatives include a family medicine obstetrics fellowship, a rural behavioral health workforce collaborative, a nursing excellence pathway, a rural healthcare management certificate program, cancer prevention and care through nutrition, and a mobile faith-based rural health outreach program. The program aims to strengthen local communities and support rural providers through targeted investments in technology and partnerships.
