University of Belgrade ranks in top 2% of world universities

The University of Belgrade has been placed at 393rd position out of 21,291 institutions in the 2026 Global 2000 ranking published by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), putting it within the top 1.9 % of universities worldwide. The ranking, which analyses 81 million data points across four criteria—education quality, graduate employability, faculty quality and research output—shows the Belgrade campus improving from 387th place in the previous year.

The Global 2000 list also highlights the performance of other regional universities: the University of Ljubljana (1,293rd), University of Zagreb (522nd) and several Serbian institutions such as the University of Novi Sad (1,136th) and the University of Niš (1,886th). The United States leads with eight universities in the global top‑10, while China, Japan, the United Kingdom and other nations also feature prominently.
