University of Bielefeld Launches Lottery Admission and Proseminar Registration for Winter 2026/27

The University of Bielefeld will run a lottery admission (Losverfahren) from 1 August to 15 September 2026 for the winter semester 2026/27. The procedure applies to study places that remain vacant after the regular selection, especially in law, economics, biology, education, medicine and psychology. Because the graduating class in North‑Rhine Westphalia is smaller this year, the university expects better chances for applicants. More than 80 % of programmes are admission‑free, and enrolment for those programmes continues until 15 November 2026.

Registration for the economics‑focused Proseminare (B.Sc. Wirtschaftswissenschaft) opens on 18 August 2026 and closes on 8 September 2026 via the StudiLöwe portal. A “first‑come‑first‑served” waitlist (Nachrückverfahren) runs from 17 September to 25 September 2026. Certain seminars, such as the “Proseminar with qualification and orientation internship,” will not be offered in this term.
