University of Bologna and IEG partner to boost Rimini congress tourism

The University of Bologna and the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) are collaborating to attract new congresses to Rimini by combining scientific research with expertise in the meeting industry. This partnership, formalized in September 2023, aims to leverage the international networks of professors and researchers alongside IEG’s professional capabilities in managing event bids and logistics.

Alessia Mariotti, president of the Campus Rimini Council at the University of Bologna, noted that the model utilizes scientific ambassadors to identify opportunities for hosting international congresses. IEG supports these efforts by handling technical aspects, including dossier preparation, feasibility studies, and stakeholder coordination. To date, the collaboration has resulted in approximately 15 applications, with seven congresses already confirmed and three applications still pending.
