University of Buenos Aires expands dental health outreach programs

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) is expanding its dental health outreach through various community programs in Argentina. Under the ‘UBA en Acción’ initiative, a mobile clinic is stationed at Plaza Carrillo in Buenos Aires. This operation, which runs until September 28, 2026, offers dental services alongside ophthalmology, psychology, legal advice, and veterinary care on specific days of the week. Residents can access dental services by scheduling an appointment via WhatsApp.

In the Tigre Delta region, the ‘Sonríe Tigre’ program continues to provide intensive oral health services to rural school communities. This municipal initiative, operating since 2013, collaborates with professionals from the UBA Faculty of Odontology. The program targets students in remote island schools to ensure access to dental check-ups, cleanings, and treatments, which local officials state has successfully reduced the prevalence of cavities among children in these areas.
