University of Buenos Aires recognizes Mar de Ajó pediatric residency

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) has officially recognized the Pediatric Residency program at the Mar de Ajó Municipal Hospital as a formal site for medical specialization. This distinction validates the medical training conducted within the public health system of the La Costa district.

Established in 2015, pediatrics was the first specialty integrated into the hospital's residency system. The program is currently in its third cohort and utilizes a methodology that combines direct patient care with specialist supervision and teaching. The residency aims to strengthen local pediatric care teams and encourage medical professionals to remain within the local healthcare system.

To support this growth, the Municipality of La Costa has signed agreements to assist resident physicians, including those in Intensive Care and Internal Medicine, to ensure the continuity of their professional training.
