University of Calabria receives accreditation for all medical specialization schools

The Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) has confirmed the accreditation of all existing medical specialization schools at the University of Calabria (UniCal). This decision follows a positive evaluation of the institution's consolidation and academic results.

In addition to the reaccreditation of ten existing programs—including pathology, general surgery, hematology, and internal medicine—the university is launching a new specialization school in Neurosurgery, to be directed by Domenico La Torre.

University Rector Gianluigi Greco stated that the expansion aims to create a center of excellence that improves local healthcare quality while allowing young doctors to receive high-level training within the Calabria region. The initiative is intended to attract medical residents from across the country and provide essential support to local hospital structures.
