University of Camargo develops commercial red wine project

The Universidad Tecnológica de Camargo (UTCam) has launched a research project to develop a red wine with commercial potential, bridging regional agricultural vocation with applied innovation. The initiative involves students from the Sustainable and Protected Agriculture and Marketing departments.

The project focuses on two main areas: technical-productive analysis and market research. Students documented fertigation management for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties at Rancho El Monumento, monitoring grape development and maturation. Simultaneously, marketing students analyzed consumer profiles, habits, and purchasing intentions to determine market viability in Camargo.

UTCam Rector Julio Huerta stated that the project aims to integrate different areas of knowledge to solve real-world challenges, allowing students to convert research into regional solutions.
