University of Cantabria drops out of Shanghai World University Rankings
The University of Cantabria (UC) has dropped out of the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). It is one of eight Spanish institutions to exit the ranking this year, which includes universities such as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Córdoba, Cádiz, Carlos III de Madrid, Lleida, Jaén, and the University of the Balearic Islands.
While the number of Spanish universities in the ranking has decreased from 36 to 30, two new institutions have entered: Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid and the University of Valladolid. The University of Barcelona remains the highest-ranked Spanish institution, appearing in the top 200. Other Spanish universities maintaining or improving their positions include the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Complutense University of Madrid, while the University of Valencia saw a decline in its standing.
