University of Castilla-La Mancha launches academic-sports program

The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) has opened applications for the fifth edition of its Academic-Sports Reconciliation Program. Since its implementation in the 2022/23 academic year, the initiative has aimed to help students balance official university degrees with athletic careers.

The program is available to four specific profiles: high-level or high-performance athletes accredited by the Higher Sports Council or autonomous communities; national or international level sports technicians; national or international level referees; and high-level university athletes, including medalists in official university competitions.

Support measures include adaptations to schedules, exams, and practical sessions, as well as priority in selecting class groups to accommodate training and competition calendars. Each beneficiary is assigned an academic tutor to facilitate communication with faculty and ensure academic progress. Additionally, participants receive free access to university weight rooms, sports equipment, and specialized services from the Sports Performance Assessment and Diagnosis Unit.
