University of Ciudad Juárez expands community center after municipal land donation
The Cabildo of Ciudad Juárez approved the free transfer of a 3,825‑square‑meter municipal parcel to the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ). The land will be used to enlarge the university’s community center in the Cerradas del Sur neighborhood, adding a cafeteria and upgraded facilities for children and adolescents who attend educational and sports programs. Mayor Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel emphasized continued municipal coordination with educational institutions to promote social projects. The expansion aims to improve nutrition, safety, and participation in the center’s activities.
The council also approved the sale of a smaller municipal lot for legal certainty, but the primary focus is the community‑center project to support local youth.
