University of Coimbra hosts welcome week amid record international enrollment

The University of Coimbra (UC) is hosting its Welcome and Integration Week from September 7 to 11. Organized in partnership with the Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC), the initiative aims to integrate new students into the academic environment and the local community through various activities, including scavenger hunts, forums, and a service fair.

In conjunction with these festivities, the university is seeing a significant rise in internationalization. Vice-Rector João Nuno Calvão da Silva reported that the institution is expected to break its historical record for international mobility students, with forecasts exceeding 2,300 students from 120 countries. The university remains a major hub for Portuguese-speaking students, particularly from Brazil, who show a strong interest in the Faculty of Law due to its historical influence on Lusophone legal systems.
