University of Colima academic contributes to Mexico's sustainable livestock framework
Dr. José Manuel Palma García, a researcher from the University of Colima and president of the Mexican College of Livestock Agroforestry, participated in national workshops to establish a reference framework for sustainable livestock in Mexico.
The workshops, organized by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) and sponsored by The Nature Conservancy (TNC), focused on creating a common conceptual framework for sustainable cattle ranching. This framework aims to be supported by scientific evidence and technical knowledge to serve as a basis for future public policy instruments, financing mechanisms, and market differentiation schemes intended to strengthen the national livestock sector.
Palma García presented work regarding livestock agroforestry and a vision for sustainable bovine ranching based on agroecology and agroforestry.
