University of Colima and La Florida launch community education initiatives

The University of Colima is launching the “Habitar lo digital” forums to help shape its Digital Culture Program. Scheduled for September 25 in Colima and September 29 in Manzanillo, these public forums will gather students, educators, and families to discuss the impact of technology, including artificial intelligence, social media, and digital privacy on learning and social coexistence.

Rector Christian Jorge Torres Ortiz Zermeño stated the university aims to collect community evidence to build a collective strategy for responsibly addressing technological challenges. The discussions will focus on digital well-being, critical thinking in education, and the institutional support needed to adapt to digital changes.

In La Florida, Colombia, local authorities are strengthening artistic training schools through the Casa de la Cultura de La Florida. The initiative aims to decentralize cultural access by extending dance and arts programs to rural areas, including the corregimientos of Robles, Rodeo, Tunja, Matituy, and the Corregimiento Especial.

Eva Valencia, Secretary of Culture and Tourism, noted that these permanent spaces allow children, youth, and adults to develop talents while strengthening community bonds and local identity.
