University of Colima High School Theater to Perform at UNAM International Festival

The University of Colima’s high‑school theatre group, Orión, will present the play “Demonios blancos” at the 33rd Festival Internacional de Teatro Universitario (FITU) organized by UNAM. The festival runs from 3 to 13 September 2026 at the Centro Cultural Universitario in Mexico City and will feature 25 projects selected from 161 national and international submissions.

Demonios blancos,” written by playwright Martín Quetzal and directed by Héctor Castañeda Arceo, explores themes of ridicule, rejection, emotional pressure and unrequited love. The production stars students Iain Alcántara, Nahim Márquez, Haru Alatorre, Betsy Domínguez and Enrique Alcántar, with scenic and costume design by Pedro Pazarán and Victoria Guzmán. In addition to FITU, the play has been chosen for the Festival Mundial de Teatro Adolescente in Buenos Aires and for regional arts showcases in Colima.

The participation marks a first‑time international exposure for Colima’s youth theatre, which previously performed at cultural meetings in Tepic, Nayarit, and aims to broaden opportunities for its students.
