University of Colima honors Niños Héroes de Chapultepec

University of Colima authorities and state officials held a commemorative ceremony for the Niños Héroes de Chapultepec, honoring the cadets who defended Chapultepec Castle on September 13, 1847.

During the event, Rector Christian Torres Ortiz Zermeño emphasized that defending Mexico's sovereignty in the modern era involves education, science, technology, and critical thinking. He noted that the sacrifice of the cadets serves as a symbol of national unity and commitment. The rector stated that such commemorations allow for a reflection on values like loyalty and patriotism, framing the defense of the nation as a shared responsibility through public institutions and universities.
