University of Colima hosts forum on employment and AI

To mark the 64th anniversary of the Faculty of Accounting and Administration at the University of Colima (UdeC), rector Christian Jorge Torres Ortiz Zermeño participated in a forum titled ‘The Board Sessions FCA UCOL. Negocios sin Filtro’.

The event brought together academic leaders and local entrepreneurs Felipe Santana Linares and Carlos Maldonado Orozco to discuss the evolving landscape of professional training, employment, and entrepreneurship. Key topics included the specific competencies required by modern companies, the role of entrepreneurship as a professional path, and the challenges of integrating artificial intelligence into business operations.

Faculty director Esteban Alcaraz Vera emphasized the importance of bridging university education with real-world business experience to better prepare future generations. During the discussion, the rector noted the changing nature of job opportunities for graduates, highlighting that traditional large employers like the state government and the university have finite hiring capacities.
