University of Colima launches cultural heritage tour
The University of Colima has inaugurated the ‘Camino de la identidad universitaria’ (University Identity Path), a guided tour designed to introduce external visitors to the institution's history and cultural heritage through its central campus.
The inaugural tour hosted 30 students from the Miguel Virgen Morfín middle school. Led by Rector Christian Jorge Torres Ortiz Zermeño, the group explored various artistic landmarks, including murals such as ‘Espíritu universitario’ by Guillermo Roacho Landín, ‘Tiempo y memoria’ by Jorge Chávez Carrillo, and works by Rafael Zamarripa, including the ‘Colosos’ sculpture series and the ‘Mundo universitario’ mural.
The project aims to connect basic education students with art, history, and science. During the opening ceremony, the Rector highlighted the university's extensive presence across the state, noting additional campuses in Manzanillo, Tecomán, Coquimatlán, and Villa de Álvarez.
