University of Colima students propose tourism plan for Villa de Álvarez

Students from the Faculty of Tourism at the University of Colima have presented a Tourism Development Plan proposal to Mayor Tey Gutiérrez Andrade of Villa de Álvarez. The plan aims to leverage the municipality's cultural and natural wealth to diversify visitor experiences and expand economic benefits for local businesses, families, and communities.

The proposal suggests using the recognition of La Petatera and the Festejos Charrotaurinos as a foundation to promote other local attractions. This includes linking traditions with gastronomy, the historic center, natural landscapes, and rural areas through seasonal experiences. Key objectives include the year-round interpretation of La Petatera's heritage, strengthening nature and culinary tourism, and better coordinating the local festival calendar.

The initiative emphasizes shared responsibility, promoting collaboration between the government, service providers, communities, educational institutions, and social organizations to ensure sustainable economic opportunities and heritage conservation.
