University of Concepción and Quillón launch health operation

The Municipality of Quillón and the University of Concepción (UdeC) conducted a joint health operation to address medical waiting lists, primarily benefiting residents in rural sectors. Approximately 100 people received care through facilities such as the Cesfam and the Escuela Héroes de Itata.

Around 60 professionals and students from the faculties of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing participated in the initiative. The services included specialized care, nutritional guidance, and medication orientation. The operation utilized a mobile care unit to reach the community.

Quillón Mayor Felipe Catalán noted that the alliance aims to resolve critical issues, such as dental waiting lists, which are often more prolonged in rural areas. The University of Concepción plans to continue these operations and intends to establish a pioneering medication information center for the Ñuble and Biobío regions.
