University of Concepción students train Gendarmería officials

Veterinary medicine students from the University of Concepción participated in a training session on sheep ultrasound for officials of Gendarmería de Chile. This initiative is part of a collaboration agreement between the two institutions aimed at social reintegration and providing training in agricultural and agro-industrial areas for officials and inmates at the Education and Work Centers (CET) in San Carlos and Yungay.

Led by academic Florence Hugues, the activity allowed fourth and fifth-year students from the Concepción and Chillán schools to share their technical expertise. The students guided officials in analyzing ultrasound images and interpreting results, an experience designed to improve animal welfare while offering inmates opportunities for professional growth and social reintegration.
