University of Dar es Salaam emphasizes research and strategic partnerships
The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) has emphasized the necessity of enhancing academic quality, productive research, and strategic partnerships to drive national economic growth. During the university's 56th graduation ceremony held on October 15, 2026, UDSM Council Chairperson Ambassador Mwanaidi Sinare Maajar highlighted that strategic cooperation in key economic sectors must benefit the university, the government, the private sector, and society while maintaining institutional integrity.
Ambassador Maajar noted that academic excellence is fundamental to the university's status, urging graduates to utilize critical thinking, technology, and innovation to solve societal challenges. She further stressed that university research should yield tangible results that assist government and private sector decision-making and improve public services.
Vice Chancellor Professor Anangisye reported that UDSM has expanded its collaborations with both domestic and international stakeholders. Notably, the university has entered into a 10-year agreement with Barrick Tanzania, which includes initiatives for training, research, scholarship funding, and practical internships.
