University of Delaware women's soccer defeats George Washington 3-2

The University of Delaware women's soccer team secured a 3-2 victory over George Washington in their season opener on August 15.

Delaware took an early lead in the 39th minute with a goal from Taisiya Reid. George Washington responded in the 59th minute through Naomi Kim, but Delaware regained the lead in the 66th minute when Maggie Groh scored. After George Washington tied the match again in the 71st minute via Sophia Michele, Olivia Bley scored the decisive game-winning header in the 85th minute following a cross from Groh.

Statistically, Delaware held a 26-17 advantage in shots, while George Washington led in shots on goal with 9-7. Delaware's Sophia Hall recorded seven saves during the match.
