University of Dhaka faces museum controversy and explosions

The University of Dhaka is facing significant controversy following the placement of images of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) museum. The University Teachers' Network has condemned the move, alleging historical distortion, noting that Jinnah's images were installed while historical photos of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were removed.

Teachers argued that Jinnah's legacy, specifically his stance on Urdu as the sole state language, is an affront to the Bengali struggle for self-determination. They have demanded punishment for those responsible for altering the museum's collection.

Amidst this tension, three cocktail explosions occurred near the university campus on Tuesday night. The blasts took place in front of Jagannath Hall and near the TSC Metro Rail station. No casualties were reported, and university authorities, including Proctor Israfil Ratan, have launched an investigation into the cause and perpetrators of the explosions.
