University of Florence hosts Marco Lodola exhibition on Decameron
The University of Florence will host the exhibition ‘Lodola et Boccaccio’ in the Rectorate atrium from October 29 to December 15. The showcase features eight works by artist Marco Lodola inspired by Giovanni Boccaccio’s Decameron.
Part of the celebrations marking the 650th anniversary of Boccaccio’s death, the project follows an initial debut at Casa Boccaccio in Certaldo. The exhibition aims to bridge 14th-century literature with contemporary artistic language to engage younger generations.
The event strengthens the collaboration between the Fondazione Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio and the University of Florence. University Rector Alessandra Petrucci noted the historical connection, stating that Boccaccio was one of the most famous professors at the Studium, the predecessor to the modern university.
