University of Florida opens new downtown Jacksonville campus

The University of Florida has officially opened its new downtown Jacksonville campus, marking a major expansion of the university’s presence in Northeast Florida. The project is the result of a partnership between the university, the city of Jacksonville, state leaders, and private sector partners.

To date, the initiative has seen a total investment of $300 million from city and state funding alongside local private philanthropy. The campus will offer graduate-level programs in specialized fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, engineering management, business, law, architecture, and biomedical and health sciences.

In addition to academic programs, the site will function as a research hub through the Applied Research for National Security Lab. This lab will focus on critical sectors including semiconductors, microelectronics, space and strategic technologies, biotechnology, and biosecurity. University President Stuart Bell stated the campus is designed to meet regional needs by serving students, researchers, and working professionals.
