University of Florida ranks as top value public university in 2026 study

SmartAsset has identified the top 50 best-value public universities in the United States for 2026. The evaluation analyzed over 500 institutions, focusing on cost of attendance, graduation rates, and median alumni earnings ten years after initial enrollment.

The University of Florida secured the top ranking, supported by a 91% graduation rate and median alumni earnings of $71,588. Purdue University and Baruch College followed in second and third place, respectively.

Geographically, California led the nation with 11 ranked institutions, followed by New York with eight. Notably, Pennsylvania was the most populous state without any public institutions appearing in the top 50 list. The rankings also highlighted several smaller institutions, including Montana Technological University and Western Connecticut State University.
