University of Georgia hosts immersive New Faculty Tour

The University of Georgia (UGA) recently conducted its 2026 New Faculty Tour, an immersive five-day program designed to introduce new faculty members to the state’s diverse geography, economy, and culture. Coordinated by UGA Public Service and Outreach, the tour spanned 53 counties and 87 cities, covering areas ranging from coastal ecosystems and busy ports to agricultural regions, Metro Atlanta, and the North Georgia mountains.

The initiative aims to help faculty understand the needs of Georgia residents and identify opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching, and research that serve the state’s communities. Participants met with local leaders and visited various industries to better align their academic work with the state’s land-grant and sea-grant missions.
