University of Ghana confirms certificate eligibility for AUCB students

The University of Ghana has clarified that students from the 2022/2023 admission cohort of the African University of Communication and Business (AUCB)—formerly the African University College of Communications (AUCC)—are eligible for certificates issued under the University of Ghana seal.

In a letter signed by Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gordon A. Awandare, the university stated that these students remain governed by the terms and conditions of their original affiliation arrangement. Consequently, those who satisfy all academic requirements will be entitled to certificates bearing the University of Ghana seal.

The decision follows a petition from Level 400 students who argued that they were admitted under an affiliation framework and expected certification accordingly. The students rejected suggestions from AUCB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Abeku Blankson that they should instead accept AUCB degrees to avoid long delays, maintaining that their academic rights and the terms of their enrollment must be honored.
