University of Ghana orders students with CGPA below 1.00 to withdraw
The University of Ghana (UG) has directed undergraduate students who finished the 2025/2026 academic year with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 to withdraw from their programs. The directive, issued by the Academic Affairs Directorate, cites Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017).
Unlike many other institutions, the university's regulations do not include a provision for academic probation. Consequently, students who fail to meet the minimum 1.00 CGPA threshold after all grades are released must leave their programs.
Affected students are instructed to verify their academic standing via the Management Information System (MIS) Web portal. Those confirmed to be below the benchmark must submit a formal withdrawal request through the Student and Staff Portal (STS). In certain programs, departments may handle the withdrawal process on behalf of the students. The university has advised students seeking clarification to contact their College Academic Offices or the Careers and Counselling Directorate for support.
