University of Granada awards Gold Medals to Granada, Ceuta, and Melilla

The University of Granada (UGR) Governing Council has approved the granting of its Gold Medal, the institution's highest honor, to the cities of Granada, Ceuta, and Melilla. This distinction recognizes the deep historical ties and the significant contributions these three cities have made to the university's academic, scientific, cultural, and social development.

University Rector Pedro Mercado stated that the award recognizes a shared history of nearly five centuries and a reciprocal relationship essential to the institution's growth. The recognition highlights the university's unique identity as an institution operating integrated across three distinct territories.
