University of Guadalajara seeks federal support for 2027 budget

Karla Planter, the rector general of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), met with Merilyn Gómez Pozos, president of the Budget and Public Accounts Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, to discuss the institution's financial requirements for the 2027 federal budget.

Accompanied by General Secretary César Antonio Barba Delgadillo and other university officials, Planter outlined the budgetary challenges facing the institution. The discussions focused on securing resources to sustain institutional growth, consolidate strategic projects, and expand access to higher education. Planter emphasized that strengthening the university supports research, innovation, and knowledge generation in Jalisco and throughout Mexico.

Deputy Gómez Pozos expressed a commitment to maintaining dialogue with the university community, stating that investing in the University of Guadalajara is an investment in the future of Jalisco. She indicated that the Commission is prepared to listen to the needs of educational institutions during the federal budget construction process.
