University of Guadalajara suspends teacher amid harassment allegations

The University of Guadalajara (UdeG) has suspended a professor from the Preparatoria Regional de Santa Anita following the circulation of social media images allegedly showing him kissing a student in a classroom. The teacher, identified as Eduardo N., also serves as the general secretary of the DIF Jalisco Union.

Social media posts accompanying the images included unverified allegations of long-term misconduct and relationships with multiple students. In response to the controversy, students organized protests both inside and outside the school premises in San Pedro Tlaquepaque. The demonstrations involved signs, egg-throwing, and graffiti, resulting in some material damage to the facility's bathrooms.

Protesting students are demanding that educational authorities investigate the allegations and implement measures to ensure a safe environment. While the university has suspended the teacher and announced an investigation, official statements regarding the student demonstrations are still pending.
