University of Guanajuato celebrates 50 years of Geological Engineering

The University of Guanajuato (UG) celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Geological Engineering degree at the San Matías campus. The event brought together university authorities, academic staff, students, and alumni to commemorate five decades of the program.

During the ceremony, recognitions were awarded to both retired and active professors with over 20 years of teaching experience in the department. Additionally, the university signed a collaboration agreement with the company Sinda to strengthen academic exchange, research, and student internships.

Dr. Martín Picón Núñez, Rector of the Guanajuato Campus, noted that the educational programs at the San Matías site are deeply connected to the history of Guanajuato and its mining activities. He emphasized that the discipline plays a vital role in understanding the Earth to promote societal well-being.
